i swam up to the shore
after battling the waves for days
and at last i felt safe
as your arms scooped me up
the sun that warmed my face
and lit the way
out of the dangerous cove
sand between my toes
smoothed away the cracks
not a light decision to follow
but you led the way
and i caved in
to what i knew all along
if only i allowed
the waves to carry me home
to you
from the beginning
